Hailing originally from New Zealand, owner Craden Henderson is passionate about creating spaces that are freeing and relevant to the people who inhabit them. This passion was the basis for founding 2atara.

We’re focused on all aspects of the built environment, from programming through closeout and inspection of your finished project.

When you work with 2atara design.build you will see what your project will look like right from the start with simple 3D computer models. They’ll help you understand your spaces and cement your vision. An early quote will ensure that you understand the costs of the project up front

Here is what you get:

A team approach right from the start — clients and subcontractors included. This team approach allows us to develop a detailed understanding of the project parameters and ensure expectations are met.
Simplicity in client interactions — one point person all the way through
The process starts with a thorough review of your wishes for the project and discussion about the scope and high level design. Through a design.build process we can hear your vision firsthand and translate that directly into drawings and project budgets
- We then evaluate the project scope and provide a ball park estimate of project cost. Plus we provide a quote for concept design
- The concept design is a collaborative process which utilizes software to produce 3D views of the project that help you experience the spaces. At the conclusion we will provide a detailed quote for the remainder of the design and the construction of the project.
- Also in collaboration with you, the detailed design and building of the project takes place.

We have a strong interest in designing within budget — it preserves your money and ours
Efficient pre-planning is the key to all successful projects. We don’t start building until we’re 100% sure we’ve aligned with your vision and goals
The design.build process gives us project management control over schedule and gets projects complete in a very timely manner — no delays with back and forth discussions between architects, engineers, and builders
We have a lot of experience with sustainable practices – life cycle analysis, reuse, recycling, energy efficient systems, air quality, etc. We leverage this experience to capture the best in sustainable technologies
We have a healthy amount of experience in the design world and collaborate with great subcontractors to ensure we’re designing in a cost effective manner

Who’s Who at 2atara

Our team has experience in everything from design, building systems, program management, system analysis, landscape architecture, furniture making, and playing cricket. We bring all our diverse experiences to the table when developing projects. Our honest vision is to create a better world. We live out this goal through collaboration, innovation, and exploration.

Craden Henderson, LEED AP

With 20 years of construction, design, and project management experience, Craden has managed both large and small projects, nationally, and internationally, from single family residential construction to a $60-million library and historical renovation project.

Craden earned a Masters of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design where he specialized in sustainable design. As a LEED accredited professional, he has completed over 100 LEED projects while consulting with USGBC on the development of their LEED CI volume pilot program.

More recently, Craden worked at PHC Construction on Bainbridge Island as a Project Manager on the Island Gateway mixed-use project (which includes the new Bainbridge Island Museum of Art and the KiDiMu). He also completed the construction administration, interior design, and project management of the Tanner Insurance building in Kingston.

Recent residential projects include a sustainable modular home constructed in Idaho and trucked to the site on Bainbridge Island, a contemporary design and build of the Darden house, and a full interior remodel of the historic Bainbridge Ellingsen home.

When he’s not designing and building spaces, Craden is an avid paddle-boarder, kayaker and runner, and loves spending time with his 3 children Sky, Piper, and Tallis.

Ashley Malouf

Project Coordinator/Interior Architect

As Project Coordinator and Interior Architect with 2atara, Ashley thrives on innovative thinking and loves the opportunity to collaborate with clients. She has a degree in Interior Architecture from Columbia College, Chicago, and has found the most joy in sustainable design, the beauty of architectural detail, and construction. Her work experience ranges from restaurant design, multi-family and senior living, retail design and high end residential. Outside of the office, she continues her fascination for alternative building solutions, gardening and a life of memorable days.

Charlie Hamilton

Senior On-Site Supervisor

Charlie has over 20 years experience in all forms of residential and commercial construction; from initial ground breaking, concrete forming, framing, siding, roofing and finish work. He has worked almost exclusively on Bainbridge Island – focusing on a number of new homes, remodels, and additions. Charlie also has many years’ experience in property management. A long time Bainbridge resident, he is an active supporter of Bainbridge Performing Arts, Island Theater and Friends of the Farm. Charlie has a bachelors degree in business from the University of Puget Sound and works for 2atara as a project manager.

Andrew Bailey

Project Manager

Andrew is our skilled Project Manager, coming to us with a wealth of knowledge from working within high end residential construction in Seattle. He was born in the Northwest, has 20 years of experience and has owned 2 previous businesses. In Andrew’s free time, he enjoys building furniture, spending time with family and hiking in the PNW.

Robert Beverly

Senior On-Site Supervisor

Robert has been in the construction industry for over 30 years, and is our Senior On-Site Supervisor. Born and raised in Washington state, and living happily in Poulsbo for the last 20, he enjoys much of what the area offers – including fishing, hunting and camping. Robert began his career working in production framing for apartments and condominiums. After moving to Kitsap County, he learned to frame custom homes on Bainbridge Island. It was here that, after 10 more years, he perfected his skills. For the last 7 years, Rob has enjoyed remodeling homes – allowing him to develop a broad skill set within all phases of construction.

Sol Sebastian

On-Site Supervisor

One of 2atara’s superintendents, Sol is skilled in all aspects of construction, and has worked primarily as a carpenter for both large and small projects. He grew up in Port Townsend and in his spare time enjoys woodworking, cabinetry, furniture making, playing guitar, drawing, painting, cooking and attending sports events.

Dayna Benjamin

Administrative Assistant

As the Administrative Assistant within 2atara, Dayna works to keep the office organized and happily helps out in any task as needed. Dayna moved to Bainbridge Island, along with her husband and 2 sons, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 2016. She loves the mild weather and incredible natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. In her free time, Dayna enjoys gardening, hiking, being on or near the water and watching her sons play sports.

Mychal Bougetz

On-Site Supervisor

Mychal has 15 years of construction experience. He has worked throughout Western Washington and has specialized in remodels of both commercial and residential projects although his overall industry experience ranges from framing to finish work. Mychal is a true craftsman who thrives to provide the best customer experience possible. In his free time, this Poulsbo resident, enjoys traveling, camping and spending time with his wife and three children.

Kerrianne Martina

Finance Director

Kerri is thrilled with island life having moved to Bainbridge in early 2013 to be closer to her extended family. After majoring in economics in college, Kerri honed her love for numbers as an assistant controller for the Resort at Squaw Creek in Lake Tahoe. Three children, and several cross-country moves later, Kerri reestablished her accounting practice after earning her Certified Bookkeeper certification. Kerri is an avid dancer and balances her job as a mom by offering 2atara expert bookkeeping services.

Mikhail Beverly

On-Site Supervisor/Skilled Carpenter

With 8 years of experience in residential framing and 5 years in general remodeling, Mikhail brings exceptional knowledge ranging from small projects to high end residential construction. As he was born and raised in Western Washington, he also enjoys being active outdoors - Mikhail is an avid hiker and backpacker! Though, most of all, he loves spending time as a proud new father of his beautiful baby boy.

Joe Buckalew

Skilled Carpenter

Joe has been in the world of construction since he was 12 years old, and he brings impressive experience to the 2atara team. We value his plumbing and electrical skills greatly. Joe lived in Las Vegas from 1981 to 2016 when he made the move to Washington state. As our beloved Vietnam Vet, having served on the flight deck of the U.S.S Constellation, Joe brings many stories and also a passion for playing his bass guitar. Building upon his skill since the age of 5, he’s enjoyed playing with many bands while now, also, spending time with his five daughters, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren!

Ed Lilley

On-Site Supervisor/Skilled Carpenter

Ed has been working in the construction field for 11 years. He has experience with various projects including residential, commercial, timber frame, log and pre-insulated concrete buildings. Ed is from the Pacific Northwest and enjoys spending his free time outdoors hiking, biking and camping.

David Green

Skilled Carpenter

David has experience and both construction and furniture design/fabrication. He currently heads up the 2atara furniture think tank and also works as a builder. David has a Bachelors of Political Geography from the University of Washington where he specialized in the impact of geography on cultures. Since graduating he has refocused his energy towards regional impacts of craftsmanship and the arts. David specializes in interactive projects that range from climbing walls to furniture.

Anslem Lee

Skilled Carpenter

With over 20 years in the construction industry as a carpenter, Anslem also brings to 2atara proficiency in framing, plastering, electrical and plumbing work.He has a certificate in carpentry and also worked as a lead plumber with Northern Arapaho Utilities. He has been involved in the remodeling of many homes, as well as the building of large additions and ground up houses.

Anslem was born in Idaho Falls, ID, and moved as a child to Wind River Reservation where he lived until 3 years ago when he moved to Washington State. Since then he has worked primarily for 2atara. He brings his American Indian heritage to the 2atara family.

Stephen Pointer

Stephen is happy to help out in any way he can on the job site. He does everything from demolition to site clean-up and all that goes on in-between. Stephen is originally from Tillamook, Oregon and used to work on a horse farm there. He is a new dad to a beautiful baby boy. In his free time, Stephen enjoys Armed Drill (also known as Rifle Spinning) and is an avid record collector.

Robert Lee

Robert is a valuable addition to our job sites as a Certified Heavy Equipment Operator: excavator, mini excavator, and a six wheel dump truck. Past projects include landscaping & painting homes on Bainbridge, building roads in Montana and remodeling in Seabeck. Robert grew up on Bainbridge Island and attended both Cascade College for Business and Grand Canyon University for Graphic Design & Fine Art. He played college soccer at both schools. Robert’s hobbies include boating, acrylic painting, driftwood art and camping.

Marco Anderson

Marco grew-up in the Pacific Northwest and now lives on Bainbridge Island with his wife and pet cats. He has a background in technology and is applying those skills to his work in the construction field. He enjoys learning and mastering new skills on the job sites. In his free time, Marco likes being outdoors enjoying the natural beauty of our area.

Ed Flanders

With 30 years working in the fields of information technology, real estate, building and investing, Ed is an investment partner in 2atara. He brings to the table his expertise in managing companies, advising on financial matters, assessing real estate considerations and viewing the construction process from the client’s perspective. He is a licensed real estate broker in Washington.

Deborah Henderson

Graphic Design & Marketing Coordinator

Deb supports 2atara’s graphic design and marketing efforts. She has worked as Manager of Graphic Design and in a Marketing capacity for various architectural firms in the Seattle area. Through her independent design firm she has also consulted with numerous construction, development and law firms on Bainbridge Island and in the greater Seattle area. Specializing in web design and corporate branding, Deb brings a wealth of graphic design and marketing experience to the team.
