The Beach House

A design/build project by 2atara, this home is currently under construction and exudes sustainability!  The existing house on the property was not demolished but instead moved to its new home in the San Juans via barge.  The new house was carefully designed to use the existing footprint. Our client is committed to using the most sustainable systems within the home, starting with proper site assessment so as to capture as much solar energy as possible!  The two main structures are connected by an open bridge, feeding into the adored  ‘treehouse’ concept. This, along with a whimsical placement of windows, and a cascading sense of spaces start to transform a pleasantly ordinary design into a unique gem worth celebrating!  As with any shoreline construction, there are many environmental considerations to take into account, though we and the client share a strong passion towards making this an impressive influencer for future designs that share both sustainability and great character.
