Campbell Remodel
This project was a truly collaborative effort with our exceptional clients, who not only had great taste in furniture and design but also brought a wealth of innovative ideas to the table. Their vision was to transform their home into a space that would better reflect their unique style and lifestyle, and they entrusted the 2atara team to bring their dreams to life.
Our work included:
Screened-In Structure/Porch: We created a beautiful screened-in porch structure that brought the charm of California summers to their home. This space was designed to be light-filled and translucent, offering an escape from pesky mosquitoes. The angled roof seamlessly blends with the existing house, providing a contemporary feel. A new patio was laid to replace the old small deck, and the concrete floor in the screen-in structure transitions seamlessly to the patio — extending the indoor/outdoor living space. State-of-the-art mosquito netting allows it to be much easier to see through it.
Music Studio: We transformed a boat shed into an elegant music studio. Originally housing a boat we retained the large door opening, installing a tall, insulated glasss garage door that could fully open in summer weather. To enhance energy efficiency and acoustics, we added insulation and a mini-split system. The ceiling was spray-foamed and then the insulation was painted black — creating a studio ambiance with great acoustic properties.
Exterior Transformation: The home’s uninspiring builder’s beige exterior received a modern facelift with a bold, dark color. The front entry was reimagined with cast-in-place pavers, providing a more monumental approach. Modern steel planters added to the contemporary effect – thanks to the clients for finding these!
Kitchen Renovation: We completely remodeled the dated kitchen to integrate it more successfully with the living space. Openings were created to encourage flow between the dining area and living room, fostering a sense of unity and functionality.
Large Trubridge (New Zealand artist) light fixtures were strategically added in both buildings, serving as eye-catching focal points that illuminate the spaces and contributed to the overall indoor/outdoor contemporary design aesthetic.
