Hilltop Design Build
This exquisitely designed mid-century modern home exudes luxury, style and sustainability. Created by Craden Henderson, owner of 2atara, the high-end complex was custom designed very intentionally to fit the 2.5 acre property, bringing the home into balance with the surrounding land.
Inspired to create spaces that improve the health and well-being of the residents through connection with the environment, Craden designed this New Zealand style glass treehouse structure with an occupiable green roof to give residents ample opportunity to live within nature.
The complex consists of a 2600sf 3 bedroom, 3 bath + flex main house and office – both with separate entrances for true live/work. There is also a 468sf guesthouse inserted into a stilted shipping container.
Built to LEED-Gold standards, this home employs the latest building technologies, materials and processes, with a focus on sustainable solutions. Notable technologies include water saving fixtures, energy efficient envelope, solar array, hot water heat pump, and a high efficiency 2 zone mini split system allowing upstairs and downstairs spaces to be conditioned separately.
Situated on a sunny hilltop just above the Historic Fort Ward neighborhood the home was designed for efficiency, with an ample solar array and all windows south facing to maximize sunlight for a net zero lifestyle. To celebrate the history of this land the home is oriented with views down the Fort’s WW2 runway.
Built by the 2atara team, once complete, this one-of-a-kind gem will be a true in-house labor of love. Anticipated construction to begin late summer 2021
